yes,i want more civics in the class room. Because it's very necessary to know about our laws, judgements, administration etc. As we know, todays kids are the next leaders. so, they have to have complete idea about civics. If they can't get it at the early age, it would be a big problem for them to understand the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteYes, i agree with you Araf, because learning civics help all citizen to become a good behavior citizen .specially for the young kids ,they will be able to know everything about their government before they get old and they will be a very good citizen.
DeleteI like the point you made about today's children being the leaders in the future, Araf. I think it's a very important thing to keep in mind. If a kid doesn't know how the government works, how can he ever aspire to be a part of it or feel like he can make a difference in regards to it?
DeleteI, also agree with you Arafat. I hope those children who's growing up right now learn what civics mean for a society.
DeleteI fully Agree to your idea because each one of us should know how the government works since we are the future of our country. About today's kids are the next leader is a good point in general we should all know how democracy or the government interact but as we all know everything has it's own subject/major.
DeleteYes,i think that,it will be a very good idea to insert civics in the classroom.First of all, today's kids don't have any knowledge about their government structure.By introducing civics, surely it gonna enhances children's knowledge about it.Second, they don't really know their duty neither their right through the government.some might know it,but others ignore it.I think that introducing civics will help everyone to understand their duty and right .And also know everything about their government who's really important.
ReplyDeleteYes, knowing about civcs would help to understand their rights.
DeleteGreat point, Aminata. Learning about civics will help young citizens know their duties, but it will also help them understand the things they should expect from government institutions, including what rights they are afforded.
DeleteYes, you are right. Citizen should know what is the government doing for people. Then Citizen could protect or fight for their right, if the government is doing something against citizen's right.
DeleteYes, I want our class can have more civics. As a citizen we should know about how government work, otherwise we could not understand policy changes in our local. Knowing about the government is also to help young people to have idea about the events happened around them and get better knowledege to know about the whole world.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Having knowledge about civics is important for every citizen, therefor they will understand whats going on in their country and what is going on daily.

ReplyDeleteYes i do support the idea that civics should be incorporated in the classroom. I believe government should incorporate civic class in every school, therefor students will learn more about how the government works, which is very important. I honestly don't know much about civics but as i read this chapter i realize the importance about it, such as the why of government doing what they do because at the end we are making a decision not just for the country but also for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I don't know a lot of civics, too. Like you said, If we learn civic in our class then it will help us to understand about government.
DeleteYou're right, Stephanie, learning civics is very important.
Deleteyes, I think we need more civic in the classroom. Actually, I am international student so I don't know about american civics. If we learn about civics in classroom, then it will be good opportunity to know about american civics. Also it will help other students to know about civics better than now. And It will help us to understand about what government do.
ReplyDeleteWhat about in your country, Minsun? Is there a bigger focus on civics there than here? I am curious.
DeleteI agree with you because I'm an international student and do not know anything About American civis
DeleteI personally support the call for more civics in the classroom. In my last year in high school, here in the United States, I took an AP Government class. I didn't take it because I like politics, but I just wanted to know the difference between democracy in Algeria and The United states. It was so much more complicated and harder to understand. One thing we did in that class was debating with others, specifically, Americans. After each debate I found out that I know much more about American political system, than an Average American student. It was frustrating for some teachers to see that a class full of International student, know a lot more about the U.S than it's own students, and that's what was the article "REMEMBER CIVICS? HERE'S WHY WE NEED IT" by Andrea Batista Schlesinger. I think that it's really important that student get to know about their own country and society, because I don't know how can math and science help students have a better future and develop their own society, if they don't know what the world outside the school looks like?
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent point, Youcef. It is true that other countries are generally better informed than America is, sometimes even about our own policies. Perhaps the problem is because of some of the things you and the article bring up.
DeleteI agree with you. I learned about civics, when I was in 5th grade. So, apparently USA is one step behind than other countries.
DeleteYes I support the idea of civics in our class in the case of education and information to be aware about what's going on in your surrounding you don't want to be ignorant about the reality but not in the case of politic because me personally I don't like discussing about politic in class however it's good things in the sense of knowing how democracy works, to know your rights.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Mikiah, we all should be aware about what's going on in the world and we should never be ignorant about the reality. I strongly support your idea and I also think that is very important and useful knowing the system of democracy and your rights. However, I do not like to discuss and comment on politics in general.
DeleteYes, I support that School should be more civics in the classroom because citizen should know more about their rights, their responsibilities and their government. First, it is very important to people know more their rights, they would know how to protect themselves more. Second, citizen should know their responsibilities and take it. If citizen is taking their responsibilities, the country would be more organizable . Third, people should know your what is the government doing and keep their eyes on the government. if the government is doing or plan to do something that might not good for citizen, people could stand out and say no to the government. Therefore, student should know more civics and it is very important.
ReplyDeleteCivics is one of the best course a student can have. Because in civics you has a student can learn how things goes in the society that we leaves on. No offense we can also learn the bad thing that can put us in danger. Every right thing have a bad signe. These some people who used the good information in a bad way. For that civics will help them to know what Is good or not.
ReplyDeleteI support the call for more civics in the classroom.First, students will know how the government works. Also, student will know more history od government. Then, people will make improment so that the society is getting better,
ReplyDeleteyes,i support that school should have civics course for student. Because student can learn about the how the government works, and also can learn the right of citizen.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the author's view, parents, children ,teachers we all have to care about reintrodicing the civic courses in the school and learn it at home with parents.
ReplyDeleteI think all american have to grow up with the kmwoledge of citizinchip; young people have to learn how the goverment works, i mean how the president can be checked by legislative or judicial branches;learn the laws of the country. we dont need to wait until college to learn it or think is a problem only for politicians is a right for all americain and is our responsabily.
many yong americain dont accord any interest of vote because they dont kwon why they vote and who do what in the goverment, the author said the lak of civic knowledge is one of the reasons for poor vooting record of young americain.
So its time to our leader to think about it because knowing civics can help you become a better citizen
yes i do. there should be more civics in classrooms so students can get to know more about politics, human rights, the government and the laws. this program will also help students to become a good patriot i assume.
ReplyDeleteI support that School should be more civics in the classroom because civis is very important for each citizen. we can lear about how the goverment works.
ReplyDeleteThey should tech more about civics in the classroom beacuse not too many students know about civics, thats how students know more about civics and learn how the government work espically if they vote then they knows for whom they vote.
ReplyDeleteYes I belong to the ones who support the call for more civics in the classroom because it would basically teach what you can do and what you cannot do . In fact , it would enrich every student knowledge about civics
