Some people think that young kids should not have much homework or out-of-class projects, so that they have more time to act like kids while they still can, while others think these activities help the children immensely. Do you think elementary school students should take time to volunteer in schools or in their communities? Why or why not?You must post a comment answering this question before midnight Saturday night, and you must reply to at least one post by a classmate before class on Monday. You may feel free to post as many times and as much as you like beyond the minimum requirement. Remember, this counts as class participation and a homework grade. Have fun with it!

yes, i really do think so. When they going to work as volunteer in their communities they will able to understand the outside world. They will meet with different kinds of people with different problems. One of the most important things that kids should know is the values of human life. By working as a volunteer, they will obviously learn that. To become a good human, we have to help others. KIds who dont know anything about it, they will learn by do volunteer.
ReplyDeleteyour right. I think volunteer experience can help children to be a good human, too. Also, like you said, it will help children to understand the outside world. :)
DeleteThat's a good point. Volunteering can teach kids values and things that they can't necessarily learn in a classroom.
DeleteYes, I think they need to do. Do something like volunteering with their friends or communities will help children to be more friendly. Also volunteering will be good experience for their life. Volunteering can be anything but it is based on 'help'. Children will notice volunteering which mean help someone is really good activity also, they will feel good at that. Furthermore, children doesn't need to seat and do study while they do volunteering so they will not going to boring. It will going to good activity and experience for their life. Also, in the end, they will know the real meaning of volunteer.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, volunteering can teach kids real life lessons, and generally they can find something that is interesting to them.
DeleteI think we have two questions in this blog the first is about giving homework or out of class project to the kids and the second is about volunteering in the sckool or in the community
ReplyDeleteI support both because kids are less active than they suppose to be, they now spend much times a day using computers, ipods cellpones and watching tv playing games and on facebook. To help reverse the trend the teachers should give them much homework to get them busy when they got home.
And am common sense with volunteering in schools and in the community because that help them growing up with the kwnodlege of helping other people, and then they will be more active when they are adult
Good point. Nowadays, anything that gets kids away from video games and cell phones for a minute can be good!
DeleteBah I agree with your point, but having a kid with the intention full with technologies is kind helpful. If he used it on a good way.
DeleteNo, I don't think elementary school children should volunteer in comunity service programes, neither they should recieve a lot of homeworks and projects to do away from school. they still kids therefor they are not responsible enough to work with the comunity, and there is not much that they can do if they volunteer. Even though some of you might argue that it would help them make friends and socialize, we already know they got a lot of responsibilities ahead of them during middle and high school. Maybe we should give them more time and give them the ability to enjoy what they like to do the most0. I am not saying we should just let them play and enjoy the whole time, but it has to be under controle, so we could make sure that they do what they have to do as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good point Youcef. I do agree with you although i believe children should as well volunteer a little, not to make them socialize but just to know better.
DeleteThat's a great point Youcef, and i totally adhere to your point of view.I personally think that middle school children are to young for the term of "volunteering"As you just said, they don't even have any responsability for them self,so how can they help others then?I also think that their biggest thing to do is their homework, because that will give them a very good open mind which they really need at their age .Homework is a practice and practice makes parfait.
DeleteA lot of people feel this way, and the opinion is totally valid. There is a lot of time in life for volunteering and work. You are only a kid once.
DeleteI support both ideas; kids having homework and also volunteer in school or their communities. The reason as to why i support both ideas is because homework will help children practice on what they are learning in school, and make them realize if they fully understand what the teacher explain earlier. Moreover, volunteering might help them develop their selves and acquire a little knowledge of how it is out there. Although i do support both ideas i also believe these should be shortly applied, never push or force children, therefor they will have time to enjoy their childhood as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea. Sort of a compromise between the two: kids still work and volunteer, but for very few hours, so they still have time to do kid stuff.
DeleteI think that elemantary student are to young to be included in the term of volunteering. We should first count on high school and college student for that.i'm saying that, because we all know that these people already know their responsability instead of the elemantary school kids who totally ignore what the term responsability mean to them. Before volunteering for something or helping others,i think that you first have to know your responsability and you can try to help others then.
ReplyDeletei am agree with you somewhat, but it dosen't matter if they can give them somtimes as seminair of voluntering, that they can konw how the life is going, and what mean to be social.
DeleteIt is a very good point that maybe elementary kids are too young to really understand the benefits of volunteering.
Deletei think elementary kids should take time to volunteer in their schools and communities as if they can have some basic ideas so later on while they r in high school or college they can get themselves into social works around their community. i believe it would be kind of helpful for new generations.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, the more experience they have early on, the better they will be prepared to do more later.
DeleteIs it good point. new generations can help next generations.
Deletethe subject is more interested, and my point of view is that the elementary school students still have a fresh memory, and a small mind to get them volunteer in thier community, but i am not disagree that they can be volunteers in thier schools with thier friends, that can help them to be enthusiasts and encourage them to have a responsabilite but i prefer if that can just be once on week, and let them to live thier childhood, because this period is more important for kids to have fun and to keep them away from miserable life.therefore, they can continue in thier future life with more energy.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point as well. Getting kids interested in something while they're young can help them learn about themselves and what they're interested in as they grow. It's also a good point that these sorts of things should be done in moderation.
DeleteElementary school students should volunteer in their communities because from there they can meet new people and learn new things and connect to their community such as working as a team to accomplish a task. In addition, volunteering can socialize the kids, they can learn new skill, find new friends and even advance to their careers. It's also encourage kids to stand for their countries and be a better patriot.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. The harder someone works to better their community, the more pride they will have in it.
Deleteyes, i think kids should volunteer in their communities or in school. because they can learn how to help people, how to communicate with people and to bring up a good habit of helping people. And also kids can stay away from the computer games.
ReplyDeleteAnother good point about computers: anything that gets kids up and active and away from them for a bit is generally a good thing!
DeleteI don't agree that elementary school students volunteer in school or their communities. They are young and they should enjoy theire childhood.People can't be kids again. They can volunteer in their high school or college.
ReplyDeleteYoung kids life is simple and amazing. Some of them needs to have a good future, rich as hell so they can do what ever they want. To do what ever you want in some point you have to be a master of brain, or be volunteer to your community so you can help yourself get what ever you want. The reason why I think be volunteer is a good thing for children's however young people. By being volunteer you can accomplish your dream and give a good exemple of you. Like my mommy always tell me help people who can't help themselves and God will help you. This message reflect my life and I think a young kids who love himself will fallow it. By helping others you enriching yourself with knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI believe so,,,,,

ReplyDeleteI think elementary school students should volunteer in their community because although they live in the commnunity, they do not even know what the community is and how the community works, so if students can volunter in community, student can benefits their community and student also get benefits for voluntering.
ReplyDeleteI belibe about the school required community service on academic performance. first, it's a good idea that children are in such acividades because they learn to share with others and new things
ReplyDeletehi
ReplyDeleteChildren should volunteer in school, they learn different activites in school, they become more active. It also help them keeps their stuff organized.
ReplyDeleteI agree but I think it would be better if high school or college students do it instead because they would embrace the movement better .
DeleteAs some students said below . I support both acts , which are Homework and volunteering .However , I'm not totally agree for volunteering in elementary school since they are too young . furthermore, I suggest volunteering for High School and college students .
