Unit 5: Chapter 4 - Blog It!

After reading Unit 5: Chapter 4 of Urban Reader for College Writers, follow these directions:
Listen to a podcast of your choice from Safari 7. You can find them here. For your comment, please list:
1. The name of the podcast you listened to.
2. What it was about.
3. What did you think of this particular podcast?
4. What do you think of the Safari 7 project?
5. Why do you think this project was created? Do you agree with this reasoning?
You must post a comment answering these questions by class on Monday, November 12. You are not required to reply to a classmate's post, but you should feel free to if you have something to share or add.

As we discussed in class, your additional homework, is to write your own short "podcast" about something you see in the city. This should be at least half a page and is due Tuesday (not on the blog, but given to me directly).

  2. The podcast taht i lisent to is "slaughterhouse", that it was about area or place where we slaughteing animals that we eat, and is located in norhtern boulvard and jaction avenue along the 7 train ligne. The purpose of this slautherhouse is to offer to customers who need to eat fresh meat, and to bring animals for slaughtering, also let to avoid some deseases and bacteries, then let market or grocery owner to do slaughtering in thier markets. this articl is interesting for many person to know the meat that they eat, is where coming from. my point of view about Safari 7 project is good idea to let people who living in new york or touristic waht is going on in new york, that most of people don't know. I think is created for to give some knowledge to people who are using 7 tain ligne what they can see and what is goin on along this ligne, i hope so i am agree.

  3. the podcast i listened to,is Dogs. its telling us about Dogs, who have been living with humans for thousands of years and have become famous for their color, excellent hunting activity and non violent behavior. this is great source of knowledge that lets me know things that i had no idea about. obviously this project helps people to know about domestic or non domestic animals who are very useful to us. i believe this project was created to prevent animals abuse and have them a better place in our society.

    1. Good point. The more people understand and appreciate animals, the less abusive they might be toward them.

  4. I listened to Flushing Meadows. It's about a park by the Shea Stadium, it's the second largest park in NY. It's located east of Laguardia Airport. This podcast was really great, because, even though I went to that park hundreds of times, I never stopped to read the history of the park or the lakes, and the purposes of creating them, and this broadcast taught me a lot of them. I love this Safari 7 project; some people take the 7 trains everyday and they don't know how much information they are missing, which is why this podcast is created for, to show those who take the 7 trains, " the nature of this concrete" and the history behind it.

  5. I listened to the podcast Squirrels. It's about general information of the squirrels in NYC, such as how they communicate, the environment where they live in, threats, and so on. It also talks about a plan which will "boom the east side squirrels" by renovating tons of trees. I didn't know much about squirrels till i heard this podcast, that's why i believe this project is a very informational source that people should be taking advantage of. I have no doubt it was created to inform the people who take the 7 trains about urban wildlife, and i totally agree with it.

    1. Supposedly, pigeons were first imported by someone who thought they were so beautiful that we needed to have them here. Now people generally only think of them as pests!
